ILF MAKES PROGRESS ON NEW HIV PROGRAM IN HAITI
LEAWOOD, KAN (June, 2009) - Meetings in Port au Prince with Voila (Comcel) and Digicel representatives bode well for the future of the HIT (HIV Infant Tracking) System being developed for Integral Life Foundation. The HIT System will provide tracking and notification for HIV positive pregnant women and their infants that will help ensure that they receive appropriate treatment to prevent transmission of the disease to their newborn, that the infant gets tested in a timely fashion, and, if positive, the infant gets started on treatment. Real-Time online notification, as well as SMS printer text messaging will be used to facilitate the notification process. Voila and Digicel, two of the top cellular service providers in Haiti, are working with Integral Life Foundation on this notification solution. A pilot program is expected to start later this summer.
