INTEGRAL LIFE FOUNDATION PROPOSES NEW MODEL FOR PMTCT
LEAWOOD, KAN. - (Nov. 17, 2008) - Brad Gautney, Medical Operations Director of the Integral Life Foundation (ILF), just returned from Haiti where he met with UNICEF and other partners to propose a new model for Prevention of Mother-to-Child Transmission (PMTCT) programs throughout the country. This will improve the PMTCT programs ability to identify pregnant mothers that need to be tested for HIV. The outcomes of this program will aim to commence antiretroviral therapy prophylaxis for HIV+ pregnant women according to World Health Organization guidelines in order to decrease the transmission of HIV to their newly born infants.
